Our 4th Hawks Nest Seniors Festival
On 15 May - a Saturday afternoon, three locally-sourced acts combined to take everyone on a trip down memory lane. The first act was local guitarist Ewald Jordaan, hailing from South Africa. The Villa Voce choir came in from Palm Lakes at Tea Gardens, to perform several sets of their own memory awakeners. Afternoon tea was laid out by the gracious ladies of the Tea Gardens Red Cross. The final act was local super-duo, Ol’ Spice, with John, the old one, and Julian, the spicy one, putting on plenty of rock songs and foot-tappers. The Progress Association wishes to thank all the local businesses that donated to the show, helping make it a big success.

HNTGPA coordinates installation of New Welcome Sign for local Volunteer Organisations
- May 2023 -
‘THE Service Clubs of the Myall Coast Welcome You’ reads the striking new entry sign into Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest, designed and made by local artist and photographer Glen Henry (picture left with Bruce Murray). The new sign displays nine local volunteer organisations who all play an important role in our community and who are always happy to welcome new volunteers and/or visitors. The new sign and native garden were all installed by volunteers from the Hawks Nest Tea Gardens Progress Association Incorporated and the Men’s Shed, with expert oversight and hands-on assistance from Glen Henry. Both sides of the new sign feature a stunning coastal image taken from Jimmys Beach out across Port Stephens by the artist.
